Brendan Maclean's album 'And the Boyfriends' needed a visual language as contradictory as the record itself.
The cover, single artwork, touring posters, and social content were all built around one tension: things that look happy but aren't.
70s and 80s typography does a lot of work here. The aesthetic is warm, nostalgic, shot through with the grain of analogue photography. Then you actually listen to the album. The visuals don't lie about that contradiction, they lean into it. That's what makes them work.
